Picture: Skate-Aid-Green Helmets
I’ve been watching a lot of international news lately, since we don’t have cable and most mainstream channels can’t be viewed with our shitty antennae reception.
One story caught my attention: Germans importing skateboarding to Afghanistan schools. The sport has caught great popularity among boys and girls. There aren’t any rules...
Finnish artist Mari Kasurinen transforms My Little Pony toys into celebrities.
Christmas has me reminiscing all the presents I used to want but never got. Former wishlists include a My Little Pony, Care Bear, and Easy-Bake Oven. Never got any. I also remember the unwanted presents that have burned a place in my memory: Barbie dolls (barf), dalmatian furred coats, and other clothes that only...

Last Sunday, I moved into my temporary home for 2 months. It seemed like a cool condo centrally located in downtown Berkeley. Little did I know that my roommate (and owner) doesn’t have cable, not even an antennae. Being a TV addict, this has forced me to explore downtown Berkeley and visit the Trader Joe’s on my block almost everyday. Out of laziness of preparing meats, I’ve...

New haircut only cost me $16 at the Cinta Aveda hair school off Union Square in SF. Pretty good deal if you’re willing to wait and have your hair cut by a student. I’ll consider going back for highlights or a permanent body wave.

I was offered 2 complimentary pairs of no-line bifocal lenses for my parents. Since they only wear them to read, I doubt they’d wear it much unless they were motivated. My mom’s motivation: to look like Sarah Palin, without acting or thinking like her. My dad, on the other hand, needs safety glasses. Indestructible from bullets, falling branches, and barbed wire. That may motivate...

A video of a bunch of college boys doing doing Lady Gaga songs acapella with dance moves! American boys are so silly. I have a soft spot for LG interpretations.

The Business of Health
So why do we need healthcare reform? Why should insurance companies cover people with pre-existing conditions and raise all the healthy people’s premiums? I find myself debating this issue constantly with colleagues in the clinic.
Because when you’re healthy and have great insurance, insurance companies love you. But as soon as you get diagnosed with a major illness (ex. cancer),...
5 Medical Tests Every Woman Needs - Dr. OZ →
Surprised that he put tonometry. It’s a test that’s often overlooked in the medical profession but it’s one of the most important tests we perform on every patient during an eye exam. Simply having regular tonometry measurements every year can prevent blindness. 19 million people in the U.S. have Glaucoma, which, if caught in it’s early stages can be treated.
The Eye Ball is coming up this Saturday and my body looks out of condition. I gotta get a fake bottle tan and start this last-minute Beach Body Workout. I wish exercising didn’t feel like a chore. My free gym membership at Berkeley is a waste right now. So this summer, we’re rounding up a bunch of lazy asses (like myself) to go to Pilates and Kickboxing on a regular basis. Maybe...
Me and Victoria were staring at this YuDu infomercial for what seemed like forever. It made screenprinting look so easy! It looks useful for small businesses and random play, so I decided to look it up on Amazon. Turns out not so hot. Those infomercials are quite deceiving.

Do I feel lucky? In 2 weeks, Bill Gates is coming to Berkeley to give a talk about making changes. Seats are free, limited, and given by lottery. I hope I land a spot. Last month, Bill Clinton gave a free talk on campus and I had to miss it due to clinic. This time, there’s no time conflicts.
I guess one BIG advantage to being a Cal student is that all these super important people love...

Spring time means many good things like sunshine and most importantly, GIRL SCOUT COOKIES! For the past month, there’s been a crew waiting on every street corner in Berkeley, and even a girl selling them right in front of the clinic. I can’t get away from them and I don’t think I want to. I may be stuck in my hermit hole studying for the National Board exam, but at least I...
I desperately need to get done with these National Board exams (11 days!). 10 hour clinic days + 4 hrs studying post-work + 10hrs studying on non-clinic days. Trips to the 2-story Target in Albany seem like forbidden dream. If only I can spare 2 hours…

Work requires timing many tests. Since taking out a cellphone is too unprofessional, I’m considering getting a digital watch. Know any good digital watch companies besides Casio?

Soia & Kyo. ‘Tis the season for wool coats and high collars. The best thing, besides a Snuggie, to wear in this winter chill. Space heaters can only do so much until the fuse box blows.

Destiny
A year of longing for these sneakers but knowing they were out of my price range. Then a brand new pair at Crossroads in Berkeley smiled at me. It said “I’m only $15, but with your $10 seller’s credit I’m only $5.” I smiled back and bought these suckers.
Halloween is around the corner...
Weird and adorable halloween costumes.
NY State of Mind
Currently digging the extended Rush Hour commercial-free mix on NYC’s Hot 97. I’d love to move to a city with the same cosmopolitan, fast-paced, gritty hearted NYC flavor and same positive outlook, casual coolness of SF. I think Berkeley/Oakland is the grittiest of urban Californian cities with its own unique personality, but I’ve haven’t fully connected to it, yet.
