Currently digging the extended Rush Hour commercial-free mix on NYC’s Hot 97. I’d love to move to a city with the same cosmopolitan, fast-paced, gritty hearted NYC flavor and same positive outlook, casual coolness of SF. I think Berkeley/Oakland is the grittiest of urban Californian cities with its own unique personality, but I’ve haven’t fully connected to it, yet.
Something about the edgy, neurotic personality of NY where folks don’t have to be friendly seems very appealing. I love walking the hurried streets in NY where nobody gives a damn and everybody’s doing their own thing. I love straight-talk and not being sunny all the time. I gotta admit, I give my patients some edge and a bit of cynicism. But we usually have a grand ‘ol time discussing very random topics like their illegal activities or unusual lifestyles. I have a love/hate relationship with social deviants and ppl with chips on their shoulders - exams can be wildly fun when they cooperate or a PITA (pain in the ass) when they don’t. Odds are, I’d probably end up practicing in the ‘burbs or possibly SF, so probably no NYC in the near future.
